Ginseng & zinc - libido enhancer or a mind trick?

🔬

Ginseng + Zinc: Libido & Wellbeing Connection by Chef de la Maison Peterborough. Written by Nathan Higgins, 16th June 2025 9pm, Chef de la Maison 6 The Manor Grove Business Centre Vicarage Farm Road Fengate Peterborough PE1 5UH 01733 332122

Ginseng (especially Panax ginseng) and zinc are both well known in traditional and modern health circles for their role in enhancing libido, energy, and overall vitality. Here’s what the science and nutritional insights suggest:

What Ginseng Does - Chef de la Maison’s #1 balances stress hormones - cortisol!

  • Boosts nitric oxide production, which supports blood flow and arousal.

  • Improves mental alertness, reduces fatigue, and balances stress hormones (like cortisol), indirectly supporting libido.

  • Shown in several studies to improve erectile function and sexual desire in both men and women.

What Zinc Does

  • Essential for testosterone production, which plays a major role in libido in all genders.

  • Supports reproductive health, sperm quality, and immune function.

  • Zinc deficiency is linked to low libido, mood swings, and even depression. Please read this again! This is so interesting and I can personally say that the combination of ginseng and zinc 10oz tonic per day works for me! “Nathan Higgins”

The Libido–Wellbeing Link

Your libido is a key indicator of vitality, not just sex drive.

Low libido can often signal:

  • Chronic stress

  • Hormonal imbalance

  • Nutrient deficiencies

  • Poor sleep

  • Low self-esteem

By naturally supporting libido with calming or energizing tonic blends (depending on the goal), you’re actually tapping into a deeper feel-good wellness strategy — one that addresses emotional, physical, and hormonal health in one go.

🧪

Does the Tonic Really Help?

Yes —

when well-formulated

and supported with lifestyle habits.

Your electrolyte water can be a great delivery vehicle. Ginseng + zinc in a hydrating, mineral-rich base supports energy, recovery, hormone balance, and mental clarity — all tied to libido and overall wellbeing.

How Much to Consume and How Often?

For a natural tonic, here’s a safe and effective guideline:

✴️

Ginseng

  • 200–400 mg of Panax ginseng extract per serving.

  • Choose standardized extracts (e.g., 5–7% ginsenosides).

  • Best taken 1x daily, preferably earlier in the day (it can be energizing).- 6am-10am window is what I personally use as a routine. It works for me! It’s a moody changer both libedo and feel good. Make it your first drink of each day for 3 weeks and then 2 weeks off and repeat. This is the perfect balance

✴️

Zinc

  • 8–15 mg per serving is safe for regular consumption.

  • Avoid daily doses over 25 mg unless monitored, to prevent copper imbalance. It’s very important to understand the balance of zinc. Please do not experiment with it, be strict with the zinc. It’s important to follow the guidelines

🗓️ Frequency:

Daily for 3–4 weeks at a time, then take a 1–2 week break to prevent tolerance.

🧘‍♀️ Suggested Pairings in the Tonic

To support the libido–wellbeing connection, you can pair with:

  • Ashwagandha (adaptogenic + calming)

  • Magnesium citrate or glycinate (relaxing + anti-stress)

  • Hibiscus or rose water (cooling and heart-opening, supports circulation) - this one is a great natural hack! Hibiscus I recommend! Get your circulation optimum. Digestion and circulation play key roles in your well being and wellness!

  • Electrolytes like potassium and sodium for cellular hydration and balance

🚫 Who Should Be Cautious?

  • Pregnant or breastfeeding individuals (ginseng may not be suitable).

  • Those on blood pressure or diabetes meds (consult first — ginseng can interact).

  • Avoid with high doses of caffeine — it may cause overstimulation.- Please pay attention, especially with the coffee culture we have in UK and around the world. It’s easy to forget or lose track of our caffeine intake! Overstimulation must be avoided.

It’s so fascinating how natural tonics can help our minds and bodies as long as we research and understand the balances we need. They are medicinal and healing properties in many of them and they can work wonders to contribute to our wellness
