The 6 Inch Project - Chef de la Maison - contributed and continues to do so.
At Chef de la Maison, we believe gut health begins with soil health. That’s why we joined The 6 Inch Project a full-circle commitment to sustainability, wellbeing, and the living earth beneath our feet. In just 18 months, our team converted over 350,000 eggshells into nutrient-rich soil, supporting regenerative growth from kitchen to crop.
From how we manage food waste to how we source our ingredients, everything we do is rooted in respect for the planet — and for your gut.
Our community garden project is all about teaching our children the importance of our soil, how we grow and why we do so. Equally valuable for adults and all ages. Our community garden supports wellbeing, learning and a general feel good factor about growing food in Peterborough. Camomile tea, local honey, micro greens and many fantastic herbs to name a few ingredients which feature on our Peterborough plate menus for weddings, events and business lunches

Gut health starts in the kitchen, sustainability is core to this and your well being is connected to these processes. Mental health, physical health gains positive impacts with the right food and drinks. Reduce inflammation, increase the feel good factor and knowingly help our planet.
Our soil is often forgotten about, however it plays the most important role in our eco system. It’s the most fascinating and important subject on our agenda and Chef de la Maison Peterborough hopes to help inspire you. That’s why we have joined Flourish Peterborough and we can launched our own Peterborough Plate program. Chef de la Maison’s now has 62% and rising of all menus and products being 100% made, grown and produced in Peterborough. We aim to be 100% by March 2026. We will not stop improving our sustainability, our growing passion for local produce and the next step is to add more local suppliers to our food chain.
The soil, the production and the waste. It’s starts and ends with soil. The planet needs our attention, we need the planet and our minds and bodies need to be aligned for the wellness and well being we truly need.
