For many of us, an office day can mean different things. In the food and beverage industry office days are typically an iPad or laptop propped up in a kitchen or service area. At Chef de la Maison we make sure we are adaptive. When our team need to,apply admin time, they may do so in the community gardens, their own garden, home or the office.
Being flexible and understanding is very important, life is challenging and no blue print fixes all.
Wellbeing matters, in our industry like many others add stresses to our day. Feedback, complaints, challenges, time scales…. You can’t avoid them and it’s part of life. However, how we manage them is something we can control.
We like to say “stay in the moment” enjoy today, don’t dwell on the past (stress) and don’t worry about the future (anxiety). There will always be something else, however, stay in the now, take it in, enjoy it and keep it simple. The other day I took a walk around the boating lake at Thorpe Meadows. I made a few calls and mails, cleared my head and felt good. Many as-eats of my admin time are complete like this and it feels good.
There is no rule about how you get your tasks completed, it’s all about looking after your wellbeing, this is where the good work is done.
So my advice is to change it up, if you need to walk, take a walk, change of scenery…. Keep it simple, to manage stress, don’t dwell and to manage anxiety reduction don’t keep fussing about the future. It’s now that matters, the present. You will feel better I promise!
I’m my mid 40’s I feel more connected to my wellbeing than ever before. In my 20’s and 30’s I didn’t realise that wellbeing and wellness could help me, I never prioritised it or even thought about it.
Best of all, my life style is better and I’m more grateful for the small wins. Yes this means I nice walk instead of a seat in a hot office surrounded by noise and distractions.
Deep breaths help, if you don’t mediate, take some controlled deep breaths. Small daily wins which will help your day.
I’m off for a walk.
Have a great day

I wonder if you ever meditate on the pain and loss of a child? On stealing away part of one’s heart or depriving a sibling, or family members of a child they love deeply? Reflection on what we have done and continue to do might help reduce feelings of guilt and help live a more honest and kind life.
